Overview of the industry’s most celebrated boiler event BOILER INDIA

The Indian process boiler and heating equipment market stood at around USD 6.8 billion in 2019 and is projected to surpass USD 11.7 billion FY 2021-22 courtesy the ever increasing energy requirement of the nation. (Source: Energetica India)

Few key drivers:

  • Coal and gas based thermal power plants
  • Biomass power plants
  • Electrical demands of the nation, roughly 30000+ villages; devoid of electricity are being supplied (energy demand for FY 2021–22 is expected to be at least 191 TWh (Terawatt Hours)
  • Increased foreign participation and joint ventures between Indian and Foreign player like Thermax-Babcock etc
  • Industrial leaders moving towards supercritical and ultra supercritical boiler facilities (Collaboration of IGCAR, BHEL and NTPC)
  • Green field and Brown field projects
  • Renovation & modernisation in existing plants
  • Attractive Policy Support: 100% FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) is permitted.
  • Significant increase in numbers of SEZ (Special Economic Zone)

Industry Leaders

Apart from this various government initiatives like Make in India, National Manufacturing Policy, promotion of renewables and clean fuel usage further spur this growing demand across the country.

To name a few players dominating the market, we have, Thermax Limited, ABB, Siemens, Cheema Boilers Limited, GE, Forbes Marshall, Forbes Vyncke, Industrial Boilers Limited, Fives Cail, Spirax Sarco, Thermodyne EngineeringSystems,Thyssenkrupp Industries, BHEL, among others.

No industry is without its pitfalls and challenges.

The Indian Boiler market witness tremendous competitions from the European, Korean and Chinese makers.

This structure is both cost-competitive and faster delivery based.

Small scale/local manufacturers struggle to cope with this competition alone. Lack of manufacturing experience with respect to the latest technology is another factor to be weighed in while considering the gap in market share by Indian and foreign manufacturers.

To bridge this gap it is important to:

  • Create a more cohesive structure where the stalwarts boost local manufacturing by buying domestic ancillary products.
  • Participate in B2B events that promote interaction between industrial leaders, enthusiastic local manufacturers, dealers, suppliers, traders, technicians, academicians etc.
  • Develop a handy and go to product/catalogue enlisting companies, products, services, contacts.
  • Unite into a body, like minded and influential people, to address strengths and weaknesses, threats and opportunities that the industry faces.

Keeping the vast scope of growth of this core industry in mind, Orangebeak Technologies Pvt Ltd- a company small in size but ambitious enough took upon itself the mammoth task of bringing the boiler and allied industry together and became the proud organiser of the maiden BOILER INDIA 2020 with support from the Directorate of Steam Boilers, Maharashtra State, Make in India, Ministry of MSME, Govt of India, Labour Dept., Govt of Maharashtra at CIDCO Exhibition Centre, Vashi, Navi Mumbai during Feb 21 – 23, 2020.

Over a span of 3 days, the event witnessed 220+ exhibitors showcasing their products and services to over 10000 visitors from across the world.

People from all walks of the boiler industry participated to learn and advance tech- nologically. The event served its purpose of creating an interactive platform, where participants could:

  • Interact with boiler manufacturers, users, ancillary equipment suppliers, service providers, researchers, academicians and industry experts, all under one single roof.
  • Understand the latest global technologies and trends in the boiler industry.
  • Know about the latest technologies and techniques for improving safety, efficiency and environmental protection.
  • Become a part of a perfect business networking platform.
  • Meet, greet and get noticed by vendors, customers and prospective clients from all over the world.
  • Establish new business partnerships and alliances.
  • Explore possibilities of mergers and acquisitions.
  • Expand their business horizons, nationally and internationally.
  • Get exposure to state of the art technological development, facilitating them to build efficient, cost-effective and environment-friendly boilers.
  • Understand various international codes such as ASME, ASTM, GHOST, ASME, ANSI, AGA, API, BS, ISO, DIN and more.
  • Identify opportunities for energy and cost savings.
  • Identify factors to increase reliability and overall safety of boilers and identify potential problems in design.
  • Indulge in case studies and critical discussions with the industry, Government authorities and technical experts.

The three days event also witnessed 4600+ delegates for the 24 knowledge sessions especially curated and conducted by the Directorate of Steam Boilers, Maharashtra State to celebrate 150 years of Boiler Inspection in India. The convention was based on discussions related to the safety of boilers along with their selection for a more effective, efficient and futuristic operation, instrumentation and control of sensing devices, modularisation of boilers, international codes for boiler and pressure vessel manufacturing, IBR documentation, welding technology, project planning etc.

Best Boiler User Award was the highlight applauding user industries in the given categories:

  • Sizing/ Rice Mills/ Other Small Industries
  • Textile/ Processing/ Edible Oil/ Paper/ Ordnance/ Distilleries Industries
  • Pharmaceutical/ Chemical/ Dairy/ Hotel/ Food Industries
  • Sugar Industries
  • Captive/ Cogeneration (Steel/ Cement/ Chemical/ Petrochemical Industries)
  • Power Plant

What’s to look out for in BOILER INDIA 2022?

  • Diverse exhibitors
  • Visitor friendly format
  • User friendly layout
  • Expected footfall 25000+
  • Greater penetration in foreign markets
  • Exhibitor participation from across the globe
  • Cleverly designed competition for steam users
  • Interesting seminars with world renowned speakers
  • Supporting Make in India and MSME

In limelight this time is ‘THE BOILER MUSEUM’:

Boilers have transformed our lives in a manner so incredibly unrecognisable that imagining a time before it seems like a mammoth task.

One of the most impactful innovations- BOILERS, encapsulate the history of industrial revolution across the globe. Steam boilers mechanised domestic heating, power supply, textile crafting, travelling via trains and ships etc., to fuel the transformation of the entire socio-economic fabric of the world.

Several improvisations to the primitive boilers aimed to pump and harness steam to drive machines and engines that marked a turning point in industrial history by replacing traditional dependence on conventional energy sources viz. wind, water and animals.

‘The Boiler Museum’ at BOILER INDIA 2022 is a special attraction dedicated to celebrate the power of steam by learning and understanding the glorious developmental journey of boilers from the kettle type to the latest combi type and recognise its ever growing impact on industries across sectors.
